The Developer Preview version of Windows phone 8.1 is now available for download. Those who are non-developers and wish to get their hands on the early version prior to the public release can also get the update on their Windows Phone 8 running devices.
The process is quite simple. To get the update, users will have to sign up as a developer at the Microsoft App Studio website and then download the Preview for Developer app.
As the update is not optimised, those who have installed the update seem to have come across issues such as decrease in battery performance, warm device and Bluetooth connectivity issue, reports PhoneArena.
There is a way available through which users can bring their devices to Windows Phone 8.
Alin Gheaja has shared a video demonstrating how to downgrade Windows Phone 8.1 to Windows Phone 8. Besides, he claims to have successfully downgraded the Lumia 720 from Windows Phone 8.1 to Windows Phone 8. This procedure is slightly time consuming and is expected to work with Nokia, Samsung, Huawei and HTC Windows Phone running devices.
IBTimes UK reminds its readers that it will not be held liable for any damage to the device. Before proceeding, users are advised to back up all their data since the procedure might wipe out all data.
Step-1: Back up all the data of the phone
Step-2: Download and install Nokia Software Update from Nokia
Step-3: Connect the Windows phone to the computer with the screen unlocked and Nokia Software Update running
Step-4: The app will say there is an update available
Step-5: Follow the on-screen instructions to install the new firmware
Once the device boots up successfully, it should be running on Windows Phone 8.
